Run

February 13, 2014

You’ve got to piss between the pitfalls
If you ever want to make it back to me.

Yeah, the way is darker than
You thought it would be,

But you got to keep on
Until you hear the wind chimes.

Tiptoe on top the stone wall
To ensure you’ll miss the quicksand,

Sprint on with the wind and
Feel it on your face wash over you;
You have to clean up before dinner.

Wade through a few lagoons,
Try not to get sleepy—
You’ve got to play a tune for me.

I hope you brought a change of clothes
So you can sail atop old pianos
The last stretch home.

Stare into the barn light flicker
As the piano tune fades.

Tomorrow be quicker
