pages

I am always ready to pack my bags
And never look back
I am ready to start living in
Adventures I have only read about
In the pages of my favorite books
Dusty pages, faded pages
With sunken words
Underlined and circled
To remind me of their wonder
To remind me of their magic
To remind me of my youth
When they take me to my Wonderlands
Middle earths’ and Neverlands
Places that only exist
Inside the pages of my books
And when I pack my bags
And never come back
Maybe I will find Peter Pan
And tell him that growing up
Is not always so terrifying
Maybe I will find Alice
And tell her that she will spend eternity
Chasing the white rabbit in strange realities
Maybe I will find Bilbo
And tell him that adventures are only worthwhile
When you find the courage to leave your hobbit hole
I will find them and tell them
That childhood heroes exist
Outside of dusty pages, faded pages
And inside the pages of my soul

And I want to carry my books
Carry them in my heart
As if their adventures were my adventures
As if their souls were my soul
Carry my books
As I travel to far and wide places
Underline and circle
The many new faces I meet
The many new heroes I find
And hold them safe in my pictures
And write about them
In the pages of my books
To remind you of their wonder
To remind you of their magic
To remind you of your youth
Maybe I am just another sentimental fool
Who loves too much
Who wants too much
I want to see everything
I want to write about everything
And keep a little bit of everyone
Inside the pages of my books
Inside the pages of my soul
