We never should’ve gotten that pool
April 9, 2014
I said it would be alright to
throw a stone upon the still cap
and watch the circles take you home
That sinking feeling always leaves you breathless
and it’s that way it makes you panic
that makes you feel like it wasn’t an accident
Blow the bubbles
like I used to in our front garden with mom.
You used to chase them for hours
It’s less charming now as you
watch them leave your lungs
oh, my sweet girl, what have you done?
Just because your mother did didn’t mean you should, too.
I didn’t want to lose you,
but at least you’re home now
I said it would be alright
oh, what have I done?
